Once you enter your adulthood, the primary purpose that dominates your thought is earning a livelihood. The major part of your life thereafter revolves around money. Yet, money is the least understood and taught subject in the society.
Hi, I am Pronuj Kumar, 55 years old. I did my post-graduation in Economics (M.Sc.), followed by a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). Life treated me very well. I started my corporate career through a job in Banking where I got exposed to the big world of finance and money. I lived a life of my imagination. But slowly things became difficult. Money looked never enough. I was burdened with debts. My income was taken away by banks against loans. I barely had money to live, forget about saving.
Before I could realise what was happening around me, a good number of years passed in my corporate career and many money mistakes were committed by me. I created irreparable damage to my financial life at the early stage of my career. Today, I wish I had known many of the things I know now about money and more precisely personal finance.
I became curious to know the subject of money. I studied and became a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). I also did courses like Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Advising and Advanced Wealth Management. I worked for 28 years in the banking industry. I served through the length and breadth of the country. Met thousands of people from different walks of life and businessmen of various sizes.
I don’t know if you had similar story like me. Nor I wish. But, I found and statistically confirmed only one out of five are financially literate in India. There are many like me who made financial mistakes or still making mistakes.
